Implant-Supported Dentures Provide Support and Stability

If you have lost most or all of your teeth, implant-supported dentures provide the most stable tooth replacement solution. Unlike traditional dentures, which are held in place by suction and adhesives, implant-supported dentures are anchored directly to your jawbone. These restorations can renew your ability to eat, speak, and smile with ease, and they can help keep your jawbone strong and healthy. With years of experience and access to advanced technology, Drs. Martin Farnsworth and Derek Farnsworth can both place and restore dental implants at their Mesa, AZ, office.

Whereas traditional dentures rest atop the gums, implant-supported dentures are affixed to dental implant posts.

Are You a Candidate?

In order to receive implant supported dentures, you must be healthy enough to undergo oral surgery. You should also have good oral health and be free from periodontal disease. Any underlying conditions will have to be addressed prior to implant placement.

In order to qualify for traditional dental implants, you must also have enough healthy bone to support the posts. If your jawbone has degenerated as a result of tooth loss, you may require a preliminary bone graft to restore your candidacy. Though a dental bone graft will extend your treatment timeline by several months, it can rebuild your jawbone and provide a strong foundation for your new implants.

What to Expect

Before receiving your restorations, you must first undergo dental implant surgery. We offer nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Over the following three to six months, the implant posts will fuse with your jawbone to become a permanent part of your anatomy.

With years of experience and access to advanced technology, our doctors can both place and restore dental implants at the office.

Once your dental implants are fully healed, we can attach special connector devices, known as abutments. We can then take impressions of your smile, which will be sent to an offsite laboratory and used to fabricate your restorations. Each restoration is custom-crafted out of the highest quality materials. When designing your denture, we take great care to ensure the prosthetic complements your unique facial features. Once your prosthetic is complete, you can return to our office for placement and leave with a fully functional smile.

Why Choose Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures are more secure, stable, and realistic than traditional restorations. With a strong, sturdy base, you never have to worry about your prosthetic slipping or clicking when you eat and speak.

In addition to their aesthetic benefits, implant-supported restorations can also protect the health and structure of your jawbone. Bone atrophy can occur as a result of tooth loss, because the bone is no longer stimulated by the dental roots. However, dental implants act as artificial roots and stimulate your jaw with each bite you take. They can help to preserve your face shape and prevent more widespread tooth loss. Though restorations may need to be replaced, dental implants can last a lifetime.
