"Las Sendas" means "The Paths" and we have taken the significance of our name to heart. We are here to create smiles that will brighten the path in your journey of life.

Our dental office is unique in that the design of our practice is carefully thought out to minimize a "clinical" feel. When you are here, we hope you feel relaxed and comfortable, like you are in a dear friend's home. Notice the water sculpture by a well-known local artist (www.stoneandwater.com) in the reception area. Look through our picture windows in the operatories to see a view of the mountains or the desert. Then when we are finished, look in the mirror to see your new smile, the one that brightens up any room you enter.

Do You Have A Dental Emergency?
Call us right away, and we will see you today, as soon as you can get to our dental office. We will rearrange our schedule to get you out of pain fast!
TECHNOLOGICAL CAPABILITIES
We believe it's important to keep up with the latest developments and equipment in dentistry. They help us provide dental procedures faster and with less pain. For example, we stopped using the old-fashioned x-ray machine. The new digital radiography machine allows us to take radiographs with up to 90 percent less radiation for patients.
Technological Capabilities Index
Digital x-rays
This system can shoot a picture of your teeth and immediately be seen on a computer monitor. No more waiting for x-ray film to develop or repeating the x-ray because it didn't come out clearly. With the digital x-ray system, an onscreen picture will look like an x-ray image, but 400 percent larger. Dr. Farnsworth can zoom in on a single tooth so he can explain your treatment procedure. The best part is that your exposure to radiation from x-rays is cut by 90 percent.

Digital images
With digital images, we can interact with the image to enhance diagnostic capability. Patients can better visualize the treatment they have received or their current dental problem with computerized images on screen. They better understand what they need to do to ensure the success of their treatment.

Laser Dentistry
With its advanced technology, the dental laser allows Dr. Farnsworth to provide treatment with precise accuracy, while minimally affecting the surrounding tissue. Lasers can treat gum disease, de-sensitize teeth , and even whiten teeth. The preciseness of the light energy, directed exactly where it is needed, is a trait uniquely associated with laser dentistry. The beneficial effect of lasers has been confirmed by years of research in medicine and, in the last ten years, by researchers in dentistry. Particularly in the area of gum disease treatment, lasers have been shown to be an amazingly easy and effective tool to eliminate the need for conventional gum surgery.
In most cases when lasers are used, pain is either eliminated entirely or significantly reduced as a result of the lasers selective, precise control. With laser dentistry one of the advantages is the need for minimal or no local anesthetic.
Dental laser also tends to sterilize the area during treatment reducing the chance of bacterial infection. Laser treatment also results in less bleeding, post-op pain, discomfort and less trauma. Lasers also promote healing which minimizes any discomfort usually associated with surgical dental procedures.
We use laser technology to create beautiful smiles. When patients come to us with concerns about gum tissue overwhelming their smile, we can now perform a treatment that contours and reshapes gum the line. By using a laser, we can reduce many of the concerns patients had with this kind of esthetic procedure.
The laser enables us to do surgery without a scalpel. Therefore, there is no bleeding and procedural discomfort eliminated. Healing is faster and more comfortable. The computer precisely controls the depth and extent of the shaping for even less discomfort and more esthetic contouring.
Say Good-bye to that gummy smile and say cheese, as wide as you please.

Computer charts
All patient dental charts are computerized, allowing for immediate access to every patient's record with a thorough history, x-rays, and other important information. With computer charts, we have an accurate record of your dental history that allows us to better plan your future dental treatment. An initial chart is created for patients at their first examination visit. This patient record documents findings of a thorough head and neck examination, hard- and soft-tissue examination, and the charting of existing dental restorations and areas of new concern. On subsequent visits, as dental procedures are performed, the chart is automatically updated by Dr. Farnsworth. We can electronically transfer the needed information to a specialist, hospital or another dentist. We combine automated periodontal charting and integrate it with extraoral and intraoral images, digital radiographs and the digital chart so that we have all the information available and ready to use. We can even print out a copy for you.

Diagnostic wax-up
Through the diagnostic wax-up, Dr. Farnsworth can obtain a visual understanding of tooth reduction requirements, dramatically reducing preparation appointment time in the operatory. The diagnostic wax-up assists in creating a smile design that assures predictability in the mouth. It also allows careful evaluation of function, anterior guidance and cuspid rise.

Preventive Care Service and Periodontal Therapy
Early detection is the key to avoiding costly and painful dental treatment. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, the main cause of decay and periodontal disease. In fact, the major cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, which is known as the silent killer of teeth because most patients feel no symptoms until it's too late. With regular dental visits, we can treat gum disease at an early stage, before it gets out of hand.
Implants
Implants can replace ill-fitting dentures or missing teeth and they feel and look like your natural teeth. The benefits of dental implants are numerous; improved appearance, the ability to eat your favorite foods, the ability to maintain healthy adjacent teeth and your experience of renewed confidence.

Fresh Breath Center
Bad Breath Treatment comes in a variety of forms, because bad breath has several possible causes. Some of these include: gum disease, poor oral hygiene, which foods you eat, dry mouth, tobacco products, dieting, and medical conditions. Treatment may include a special anti-microbial mouth rinse. If your bad breath is caused by gum disease, we can clean out the pockets of plaque (sticky bacteria that damages the teeth and mouth tissues) that may have formed between your teeth and gums. We can also perform other periodontal treatments. If you suffer from chronic bad breath, you don't have to rely on inferior, temporary solutions such as over-the-counter mouthwashes and mints. Proper oral hygiene and our advanced treatments can help correct the problem. Please contact us to learn more!
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy is designed to correct disorders of the dental pulp -- the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Teeth with abscessed, or infected, nerves were once removed with corrective therapy. But now, in 95 percent of these cases of pulpal infection, the natural tooth can be saved through modern dental procedures.

Trauma Dentistry
Dental trauma is injury to the mouth, including teeth, lips, gums, tongue, and jawbones. The most common dental trauma is a broken or lost tooth. Dental trauma may be inflicted in a number of ways: contact sports, motor vehicle accidents, fights, falls, eating hard foods, drinking hot liquids, and other such mishaps. As oral tissues are highly sensitive, injuries to the mouth are typically very painful. Dr. Farnsworth is available to treat dental trauma.
Full or Partial Dentures
Dentures can help take the place of missing natural teeth. Dentures allow patients to chew and speak more easily while improving their appearance and often boosting self-confidence. Full dentures are used when all of a patient's teeth need to be replaced. Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing. In either case, dentures can help you look and feel your best. Ask Dr. Farnsworth about metal free flexible partials.
